FInding her "happy place"???

This is what stares back at me when "little miss" gets in trouble. After I am through "scolding" her she then opens her hands and says, "peek a boo". Lord help us when she really understands humoring yourself out of a bad situation.

Pretty March day.

Claire now loves the outdoors....we can't keep her inside. The only problem is, she can't swing herself. I found her on the swing just sitting there waiting for someone to come and push her. She kept saying "higher" and no one was there.

She loves to wear daddy's hats....she seems to get a different attitude when she has them on. If I adjust it to really fit her head, she really loves it, it stays out of her eyes.

We sent in our application for Tawian adoption. Wish us luck. The wait is somewhat compared to China, so we have a LONG way to go. We will be taking a trip to Pikes Peak this summer, we have been there once before and loved it. I would like to live in Colorado, but my husband can't quite share that desire yet.

Happy Spring

MISSING ALL OF YOU

Mar 15, 2007

On Sunday (3/18) it will really be 6...

Yes, another post about how unreal it seems that she has been in my "arms" for 6 months. She has really become a 2 yr old in the last couple of weeks. She loves to play in the water for the dogs. It still is so chilly in the mornings, I would prefer that she not. I scolded her yesterday and said "don't get wet with water for the dogs..." she looked right at me and stuck BOTH feet in the water. I have to really bite my tongue and not laugh at things like that. The second she sees that I am unhappy with her actions she begins to laugh and run toward me. Must be a kid defense mechanism...."I am so cute, you can't be mad at me". Works in this house...

Hannah got accepted to the middle school we applied for. She now really feels like a pre-teen. So many of her friends will be going to this school...I hope it proves to be a good idea. She has been reading Anne of Green Gables so she now is trying to be like Anne Shirley. If you haven 't read the books or seen the movie, I highly recommend it. Such a sweet and warm story about adoption.

6 month post placement...DONE

Yes, it has been six months since our sweet Claire joined our family. Our social worker couldn't believe how tall she is. I informed him that all girls from Anhui were destined to be statuesque and incredibly beautiful. He said he would have to agree. For those of you that are keeping track, she is 27 months old and is 34" tall. She weighs 29.7 lbs. Funny to think that she has put on 3 lbs since we have gotten her. Gotta love the American diet.

My sister will be here next week for spring break and I will get a break from my full-time job of getting my mother back on her feet. She is in that stage of "I feel really good, so let me do more stuff." Then she over does it and has to take a step back...frustrating.

We all remain healthy here. Claire goes for her last shots and check up next week.

Thanks for stopping by...enjoy the pictures.

How about this blog!!!!

CLAIRE APPROVES OF THE NEW LOOK.

How wonderfully kind this women is to make these templates for such a good cause. I hope I do her justice by keeping this blog helpful to my family and those waiting to make this wonderful journey.

I have just finished paperwork for our 6 month post placement. Where did the time go? To try and think of ALL the wonderful things that have happened to us since having Claire come into our lives. Just to list her accoplishments was a job. She is the smartest 2 yr old in this house. It was also amazing to actually see how tall she has grown. She has packed on 3 lbs and 2 inches. She may end up playing basketball after all.

Let me know what you think of the new blog.

New look coming your way

Thanks to Verna I, too, will be getting a new look here on the ol blog. So bear with us as changes are made.

Every call has a beginning. A quiet moment when God whispers a promise to a mother’s heart . A holy place where a father bows and faithfully accepts the journey set before him. A miraculous morning that unexpectedly dawns… Casting its first light on a chosen threshold. A gentle knock..a closed door opens, a sacred invitation sent by the Father.. leads to the other side of the world. Where lonely hearts stare out orphanage windows praying for someone to care.. and then one morning, on an ordinary day an orphan’s life changes... God sends them a second chance...Through you..

We are a family now, a whole,of which you are a part, and you are just as much our child as any in our heart. We do not love you differently, nor would we give up less of all that life has given us to bring you happiness. There is no limit to our love,no boundary you might cross,no price you may be asked to pay,no need to fear its loss. We are now one, the five of us,windows of one home. As long as we have life and breath,You’ll never be alone.~Nicholas Gordon
