Today we visited Kevin's orphanage. It was a long drive, but well worth letting everyone say goodbye one last time. Kevin was hesitant to let the nannies hold him and kiss him, he always had to have Dad in sight. He began to cry when we toured, we had our guide explain to him that we were only visiting and he would go home with Baba and Mama. It seemed to help a little bit and he was then friendlier to the nannies and teachers. I must bold and capitalize this next statement......EVERYONE CAME TO SEE OUR BOY......EVEN THE COOKS IN THE KITCHEN. When I asked our guide what was up....she explained that Kevin was a true celebrity in the orphanage and they were very sad to see him go. His primary teacher and caregiver actually asked our guide if SHE thought we were good people to adopt Kevin. It hit Duane and I differently.....I was so touched that our boy was so loved the first 2 yrs of his life. Duane no so touched. It was really an amazing sight.....teachers and nannies running from all directions when our bus pulled up.

The orphanage was great. We received a gift from them and lunch was typical WONDERFUL Chinese food. We were all quite impressed with the place. It was very new and clean looking. We weren't allowed to take pictures inside and all the children were napping. They showed us where each child lived and their classroom. They gave us Kevin's papers that he has done over the year. It was very touching.
Hannah and Claire......only 11 more days and we will be home with your baby brother. We miss you so much it really hurts my heart to be away from you both for so long.

Thanks for this very positive post and for the photo of the Wuxi orphanage entrance. It's amazing to think you were so close - soooo close! - to my little boy. In another couple of months I'll be following in your footsteps! I hope it goes as well for us. I'm already imagining it vividly.

What a wonderful day I'm with you it is great to know he was loved. When he starts pitching a fit to get his way you may feel differently:) You look wonderful glad to see your picture too.

Well, it's April 1st here and technically (considering this day is almost over) it's only 10 more days! It seems like it's not that long! He looks so good in his stylin' shades! Missing y'all too! Especially you little bro! See y'all soon!

Lily was treated the same way when we visited the orphanage. Our guide said she was a celebrity in the orphanage. When we got home we noticed she seemed to be used to getting her way. It made it hard at first but she has learned that she is not always first. I'm just happy they got so much attention. It sounds like Kevin handled the visit better than Lily. I'm glad.

He is so wonderful! I know he will fall for you soon. The family we were with had the same thing. It took a few months at home, but know mom is #1.

Every call has a beginning. A quiet moment when God whispers a promise to a mother’s heart . A holy place where a father bows and faithfully accepts the journey set before him. A miraculous morning that unexpectedly dawns… Casting its first light on a chosen threshold. A gentle knock..a closed door opens, a sacred invitation sent by the Father.. leads to the other side of the world. Where lonely hearts stare out orphanage windows praying for someone to care.. and then one morning, on an ordinary day an orphan’s life changes... God sends them a second chance...Through you..

We are a family now, a whole,of which you are a part, and you are just as much our child as any in our heart. We do not love you differently, nor would we give up less of all that life has given us to bring you happiness. There is no limit to our love,no boundary you might cross,no price you may be asked to pay,no need to fear its loss. We are now one, the five of us,windows of one home. As long as we have life and breath,You’ll never be alone.~Nicholas Gordon
